Attention is increasingly focused on the inadequacies
of K-12 education, particularly in mathematics and the sciences. With many students having little
or no interest in potential technical careers, and with minorities and females underrepresented
in technical education programs. Working with partners, such as the Salvadori Center, ICIS has shown
that children respond enthusiastically to innovative and integrative learning activities related
to aspects of the physical city such as bridges, tunnels, transportation systems, recreation and
water supply.
