Information Exchange: PeopleElliot SanderDirector, Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management Elliot "Lee" Sander is the Director of the Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University. Sander is also a Senior Vice President at DMJM+HARRIS, one of the leading architectural, planning, and engineering firms in the United States. Sander is the former Chairman of the Transportation Research Board's (TRB) Committee on Large U.S. Cities and serves as a senior advisor to National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO). Sander is a Commissioner on the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) and has served extensively in the public sector, most recently as Commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation from 1994 to 1996. In February, 2002 Sander was appointed by Governor George Pataki to the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation?s (LMDC) ?s citizen advisory board. Sander founded and serves as co-chairman of the Empire State Transportation Alliance (ESTA) a coalition of leading business, civic, and environmental organizations that has worked together with the Governor, the New York State Legislature, and the Mayor of the City of New York to influence regional transportation policy, including the landmark 5 year $17 billion MTA program passed in 1998.
